Low Cost Superconducting Wire
Sumitomo Electric Industries has introduced a superconducting cable that can transmit electricity at relatively high temperatures. The cable can be cooled by liquid nitrogen at -328F, which is warm enough to be economically viable and could lead to a reduction in the projected need for future coal and nuclear power plants.
