xVista: Mobile Iris Scan
The University of Sussex has developed the xVista iris scanner for mobile devices. The $3.4 million program has created a system that scans the eye into a central data base and checks the stored information against all future scans. The camera phone sized device is capable of holding 250,000 iris templates, and can review them all in less than a second.
